Talent v’s Dreams

Advice straight from Hollywood

Talent v Dreams

It’s not often I take much notice of a Hollywood superstar’s advice to us mere mortals; however, one lady I do feel offers an encouraging space is Reese Witherspoon. This week, she shared a post talking about a lady who asked her how she changes her career, as she felt stuck and had no idea what she wanted.

“What are your dreams?” Reese asked her. The lady struggled to answer, as she wasn’t even sure what they were. Approaching it another way, Reese then asked, “OK, so what are your talents? What are you good at and enjoy?” The lady knew instantly she enjoyed music, playing the piano, and teaching her nephews how to play, too.

“Maybe you should chase that,” said Reese. “Chase your talents, rather than your dreams.”

I love that! Building your dreams is all about finding out what you are talented at..what comes naturally to you, what gives you natural enjoyment, and isn’t hard work.

It probably isn’t rocket science, but maybe finding what your talent is, encouraging it to develop, and focusing on what you naturally enjoy is more rewarding than chasing your dreams.

Chase your talents, to build your dreams
